shopaholic and wife
hubby je is at it again!
for the nth time, alfredo spoiled my surprise for him. our first wedding anniversary is coming up this august, and i got something for him that i know will make him flip. he badly wants this battery-operated, pocket-sized, twist-to-open travel shaver, and it's been out of stock for the longest time at amazon.com. we tried looking for it in stores, but couldn't find it anywhere, so we know that the only place we could get it from is online.
i've been religiously checking its availability for more than a month now. so imagine my excitement when it suddenly pops up as "in stock" on my amazon shopping account last thursday. i immediately clicked "add to cart", and to make sure he'll have a back up, i bought 2. one to keep in his car, one for his travel kikay kit. i sat back, relaxed, knowing that i have a gift for him already, and i'm sure he'll love it. to make sure it's gonna be a surprise, i specifically instructed to have it delivered to my office.
then last saturday, he mentioned, out of nowhere, that the shaver is now in stock at amazon. i just shrugged and said "ahhh". but when he added he bought one for himself, that's when i started to break down inside. not again! i was waiting for him to take back those words, but he didn't. so i have to tell him.
"you need to cancel that order.", i told him. he was shocked, "ha?!". "you have to cancel it, kasi i already ordered it, as my anniv gift for you! waaaaah!"
i know we have the "don't buy anything for yourself" rule when an event is coming up. but he was afraid it will be out of stock again, that he didn't abide by the rules. humphf!
it just won't work. having a shopaholic husband is nice. he shares the same excitement on seeing the 4-letter word, "s-a-l-e". he feels the same pride when we get a good deal, or get freebies, or make it in time before the sale ends. but trying to get a surprise gift is the main, and probably the only, downside of it. at times like this, i wish that alfredo is the usual "i-don't-shop-around" kind of guy.
i just have to take the bad with the good. =P oh well, i'm still on search for another gift. if you have ideas, please email me. =)

in my long years of being married, I guess very transparent na me kay hubby. Kase he'll sense I am up to something eh lalo na pag malapit na un mga "special" occasions...hirap! ;-)
U'r hubby might like suscription to Magazines, DVD collections, or a new office suit. Mag-investigate ka pa lalo :-) Either way he'll surely appreciate what u'll get him ;-)

if you want to surprise someone, the best thing is to buy things that he/she likes but would be very unlikely for him/her to buy by him/herself ;-)
