molopeysha

through raymond's (gewi's pangs) photo blog, i chanced upon this Manila Daily Photo Blog. i saw several familiar stuff, like the Manila hotel (winks at hubby), the streets, the jeeps, buses, the food, the manila bay, people dressed in conservative pants and shirts although it's scorching hot... and then there it is, SM Mall of Asia. a whole new subcategory all for itself.

i browsed through the pics and i couldn't help but be impressed and feel smug for being a pinoy. the mall icon have really taken it maaaany, many steps ahead. with all the malls popping out like mushrooms, how could they even have time to plan this one out? it looks so different from the other malls we already have. it's like i'm looking at a mall from a different country, even more, from a different planet! ok that may be an exaggeration. but it's so modern and sleek and kick-ass looking, you'd think the concept was taken out of the 1980's idea of a city from another galaxy not far away.

i noticed the vicinity is spic and span, no garbage, no trash. i hope our kababayans will keep it like it is. people have the tendency to think there are people getting paid to clean up their mess, so they won't exert effort to keep the place clean. somebody'll clean up after them anyways. i really hope that after several years, the place will still look modern and nice. i pity what happened to SM North Edsa, it was suddenly like a Recto shopping center to me. (tabi-tabi sa mga nagwowork sa recto malls. hehehe! just my opinion.)

we should be proud to home the largest mall in asia. and i can't wait to set foot (or skates) on that olympic size skating rink! for now, i'll just be contented looking at the pics.

  • been there. sure is a huge place with wide (i wanted to type that wiiiiiiide) open spaces. what's another word for huge? grand, enourmous, vast, massive! =)

there are two viewing towers fronting the bay which can be accessed by foot bridges connected from the mall.

it's so vast it'll be tough making the place dirty because you'll gonna need a good ton of garbage to make the trash noticeable.
people say the mall looks like a big ship at a distance.

downside, it's so big, you'll tire yourself quick. also, not all the walking areas are air-conditioned since it's mostly open-space. lastly, you'll go home smelling like Ariel on Little Mermaid. it's so close to the bay the place smells like the beach - salty, fishy, sometimes trashy. seriously, you can actually taste the salt everytime the wind blows - and the wind blows hard there.

  • *LOLZ@janey* tsk tsk tsk, nag-iisip kasi masyado eh. =P

nasa area sya ng Manila Bay, yung reclaimed area, malapit sa PICC at CCP. can't remember when it opened, pero recently lang ata? i used to drive by that area everyday, going to work. i worked in paraƱaque, and the Macapagal Highway was sort of a fast route, until they closed up the exit on Coastal Mall.

looks like it's not THE biggest mall IN ASIA, just second, but the 3rd in the world! check this out:

do they have wheelchair rentals? they should have that. pano na yung mga matatanda na gustong ipasyal ng pamilya, pero di na kayang maglakad ng malayo? hindi naman lahat ng may matanda sa bahay, may wheelchair. pagkakakitaan din nila yon, kahit na P10 per rental, bawi na nila yon in 2 months!

  • oh, i discovered they don't have wheelchairs, but golf carts! now that's impressive! =D i wonder if employees drive it around, or you get to use it at your own pace, wherever you wanna go. i suspect they'd ask for senior citizen ID as well.

i still root for the wheelchair rental. but don't take away the golf carts, they look cool. 8-)

  • xcited na rin me makauwi...lapit lang sa min un Mall of Asia :-) Everyday akong nandun, magpapalamig lang hehehe

  • sosy! golf carts... sakto, makikisakay ako kay mamuy para dont have to walk. haha cant wait to see THE mall!

  • the golf carts go round on a certain route. it's like a train with a couple of golf carts tied together. it's the mall shuttle.

i think there are wheel chairs. it's a staple now in malls like gateway and i think greenbelt.
