not-OK button
i'm supposed to be busy. but since my mind is on weekend mode already, and the potential damage i can wreck if i mess my work exceeds that of the acceptable, i decided na sa monday na lang ako magtatrabaho ulet. umuwi na ang mga techleads ko, so petiks na ko ngayon.
yesterday, i attended a hands-on training in using our intranet portal. i'm familiar with most of the features, pero i just want to know more. during the training, we created sample documents, calendar events and stuff. they told us there's a new feature. you can send a notification to people when you update something. i wasn't paying attention, instead, i was exploring the feature.
by now you probably know what happened. yes, i accidentally clicked on "All Catalina Users", and clicked "OK" a little too fast. a pop up window displayed... "cannot send to group name, individual emails will be sent to members of this group instead."
there was no "Cancel" button, just "OK". so even if it's not OK, i HAVE to click it. i slowly raised my hand, and when the trainer's attention is on me, i said meekly and slowly, with a silly smile on my hot face, "i think i just sent an email notification... to everybody!".
*sigh*
she opened her mouth in terror, with bulging eyes that seem to say "stupid!". then managed to smile at me, and reassuringly said they know a training is going on anyways, so they might be just ignoring those emails. a senior lady beside me sweetly said something like, "i'll look for your name on the term(ination) list soon". comforting. it's a good thing i didn't put anything weird in there, like "harbie's here", or "dwyane wade rocks!", or something similar. it was a formal "Test Notification." on the body of the email. for all we know, they might have thought i'm with the email support group who's doing some testing. hehehe!
oh well, i cannot undo it. the brighter side of it is, it's gonna be an interesting topic to start a conversation. =P

sowi ... but I didn't understand what you just said ... hehe ... you know naman ... don't understand all the computer stuff ... so here's my question ... was it a big deal that you sent to all the people that email? bakit naman ganun reaction nung nagtre-train? (bulging eyes ... etc). Hehe ... sowi ... really have no clue as to what happened ... so I'm trying to ask questions to understand it. :-P

yaiks! tnx to the senior lady for uplifting your spirits. so i will add more... there's one case in my previous company.. he was playing around with netsend.. broadcast to ALL. and he happened to press ENTER... and of course, a message pops out to ALL employees abt his TAGALOG message, including our president.. you know what happened next... =p
bright side for you: they know it's training week so kinda forgivable. mwehehehe *hugs*
err, cge na nga ako rin.. i sent email (for testing purposes) to those in a mailing list - mga senior staff lng naman. i was told NOT to do this for testing... tsk tsk!

When I was still with Sykes, me and my teammates had a spamlist (email list). I had a very annoying caller. I sent an email to my teammates making "okray" about the caller.. but i sent it to the wrong mailing list.. Na receive din ng lahat ng bossing sa account namin.. Saya. Oh well, pinagsabihan lng naman ako ng TL ko kung kanino umabot yung email ko at syempre ndi na naulit ulit.. ;p

nice one harbs! told you, we learn from our experiences.. funny thing is, kelangan pa maging stupid(sorry can't think of other term) para matuto hehe!
not that I want to blame the trainer, pero he could've reminded you to use at least a "dummy" mailing list for training purposes.. now we know the importance of cancel button. whew! =P

hahaha! ayos di ba?! instant celeb ako!
it wouldn't have been that big a deal kung "All Employees" lang ng US offices, which means, St.Petersburg, Orlando, Anaheim, Chicago and New York... eh hellooooo, meron kaming offices sa Japan, UK, Germany, France at Italy. yun LANG naman ang mga nakatanggap ng msg ko. so my message might have been translated into 4 other languages. =P cooool!
