busy switch: on/off
when it rains, it pours.
somehow this is true to describe my work. one day, i'm so bored to death. how bored? too bored that i went to the UST website and i read all the articles there. even the campus directory, looking for names that ring a bell. and even went as far as browsing through the online varsitarian publication.
then, one thing happens, and i suddenly have 5 work items on my plate. i need to keep my cool, kundi sobrang overwhelmed ako non. you know the "i'm-too-busy-i-don't-know-where-to-start" kind of busy? i open one file and then get distracted, i open 3 more. not really a good work strategy.
the busy switch gets flipped that easily here at work.
i somehow yearn for the consistent schedule i have back in SPI. it's constantly busy, but not brain-splitting busy. it's a constant, moderately busy schedule. you can anticipate when you'll have a heavy or a light day. maybe it's because the tech leads decide to whom the work item will go. if you have enough stuff to work on, they give it to others. unless it's related to the item you are already working on. or unless you're the only one who knew how it works.
here, once you modify a part of the code, any error they find with it, goes to you. and luck is on my side that i modified the part of the system that nobody else wants to touch. somebody once told me that the moment they hear the term ***bleeep, sorry, proprietary***, they suddenly go deaf, or are suddenly all busy. i had no choice when i got on board, it was shoved right onto my face.
oh well, i should be thankful we're busy lately. that means, there's business. which means, no layoffs. which means, i get to keep my job.
i can't imagine i'm gonna say "i'm so thankful i'm so busy". =P

wow! though I didn't understand most of what you said, I can imagine how busy you are.
It seems nga that the work situation at SPI is better. They know how to delegate tasks. Unlike at your new job. But you're absolutely right, in saying that when it's busy, it means that there's business. So, no lay offs. =)
I'm so happy, you're busy. ;-)

ditto.. sabi nga rin nila be thankful ur busy coz the company relies on you. uh-oh! work piles up adding up to non work-related stuff. argh, that's quite a mess in your head.
