concert virgin
hubby je and i watched the Counting Crows and Goo Goo Dolls concert last Friday, Sept 1. That was the first time hubby je watched a concert. i could've made fun of him for taking 26 years before watching one. hehehe! i decided not to, i locked the bitchy wife in the closet for this one event.
as for me, definitely not my first time. i've been to several concerts back home, from the literally deadly concert of F4, to the more peaceful concerts of Angela Boffil, Patti Austin and Christopher Cross. From the old groups like SideA, to the then newbies, Freestyle. I've seen Lani Misalucha struggle to reach a note singing "Loving You" while lying down. And I've seen Jaya do Janet Jackson dance moves. i think i can consider myself a concert veteran. i almost memorized the parking spots around Araneta Coliseum, and the seating sections and which entrance to take to get there faster. yabang no? =P
anyways, hubby's excitement was contagious, i found myself looking forward to the concert since that morning, and counting off minutes in the office. to think that i only know, at most, 4 Goo Goo Dolls and 3 Counting Crows songs.
the concert starts at 7pm, so we left home at around 5pm. we got there around 6pm, parked and had chinese food for early dinner. before going to the amphitheatre, we decided to go to the restroom. it was my first time to use one of those portalets. and i think that will also be my last. peeing on a cup will feel so much better compared to using those public toilets. and bagong linis pa daw yon ha! ulk!
anyways, the actual concert started on time, pero may opening act pa. so it was around 8pm when the Goo Goo Dolls appeared on stage. among the songs they performed, i only know Slide, Here is Gone, Broadway, and my all-time fave, Iris! it's a different high hearing your fave song being sang live. and it was a great rendition... not much improvisation, at parang extended pa nga eh. galing-galing talaga! they made my night! =)
when it was Counting Crows' turn on stage, it was a little different. probably because they have more ballad-y songs. they sang Big Yellow Taxi (which i positively h-a-t-e) and Mr. Jones. they didn't sing Accidentally In Love. =( they sang Long December, pero di ako familiar dun eh.
after each band's "last song", of course, there's the mandatory encore. je and i made a bet on how many songs they will be singing, and i won $50. finally, i'm getting back something from all those tickets i paid for concert-watching.
we had a great time all in all. it could've been better, maybe if we knew more of their songs. but being there with hubby was fun enough. Counting Crows got him to his feet to sway. notice i didn't say dance, coz that's what he really did, just sway. =P

janey, musicals don't count, so you're still a V. hehehe! =P
i am yet to see a local artist perform here in US. nagconcert dati sila Boyet De Leon sa Orlando, di kami nanood. i think i'd like him better acting. =D
i'm waiting on Janet Jackson to go on tour again, mukhang malabo na. Lenny Kravitz sana, or si Christina Aguilera.
