american idol and jeopardy idol
american idol started a new season last night. it kicked off with a 2-hour season premiere. grabe, super kuwela! i almost forgot how entertaining the auditions are. it's definitely as worthy of watching as the finalists' competition itself.
to those who haven't watched the season premiere yet, watch out for the sweaty first-timer, the amazing twins, the paris-hilton-look-alike, the sore losers, the fighting grandma, the high spirited entertainer, and lots of characters the windy city produced. je and i had our asses laughed off! (if there's such a term) hehehe!
they moved the telecast days though, it used to be tuesday and wednesday. it's now tuesday and thursday. they say thursday nights are considered primetime, so it's probably getting a larger share of viewership lately.
can't blame america, it's a pretty good show. lotsa entertainment value. and lotsa weird people doing weird things to get on tv. that's entertainment! (hello to kuya germs, hehehe!)
you would think we don't have anything better to do than play intellectually stimulating games when you hear that je and i are avid fans of jeopardy lately. =P
well, yes we are. considering i can answer an average of 1-2 questions correctly per episode, i can say i'm starting to become a convert. je, on the other hand, is impressing me with his broad knowledge of stuff. i think he's already "americanized". =P
he knows human rights figures, presidents, senators, sports figures and actors/actresses. i can barely name 10 US presidents! i always hope that the day's categories include something that doesn't need one to know the american culture.
but even so, i still find myself STILL thinking about the question, and the contestants are already going "what is blah-blah?", "who is yadah-yadah?", and so on... am i THAT slow? are or they just THAT fast? maybe at the back of my mind, my brain cells are still translating the question, and crossing out "juday and piolo" or "dong puno" or "ferdinand marcos" or "alvin patrimonio" from the "list of possible answers". hehehe!
i'm still pinoy, and it makes me miss kris aquino's game ka na ba. i remember one time, mama told me i should join "who wants to be a millionaire". i would've given that a little thought if i were given the chance to play, "YES" right away! what's the worst thing that could happen to me on the show? answer just one question? there's nothing to lose. =)
for now, i'll get contented watching jeopardy, and hearing my hubby answer the questions away. you could hear me go "woweeee, bakit mo alam yon?", "niiice!", and "galing mo mister ah!"... and he would just smile at me. i have my own jeopardy idol. =)

didn't see American Idol. WAAH! I had my class eh. The funny thing is, my parents are more into it than I am. They've been faithfully watching AI for 3 years na. :-) But interestingly enough, they found "skating with the stars" more fun to watch. They couldn't stop talking abut it last night. :-)
Galing naman ni Alfredo. :-) I've been in America for as long as he has been (give or take 1 year), and I think you and I have the same average when it comes to answering jeopardy questions. :-)
In fairness ha, miss ko na din ang Game Ka Na Ba! You don't hear Alex say, "May Tama Ka!" :-P

Binut/Keyt, at 1:31 PM
hahaha! nope, i don't think i will hear Alex say that at all! =P
sana may pinoy version ng Jeopardy no? yung AI, parang ginaya na sa Star In A Million eh. try ko nga rin yung Skating with the Stars. =)
btw, funny, coz last night, one of Jeopardy's categories was "Philippine Timeline". forgot the clues, but the answers were MAcArthur, Magellan, Spain, US and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. what a coincidence! =P
btw, reeyuh, i like that, JEopardy. ;-)
