jedi jotster's powers
grabe, it's really great to have a bunch of smart friends, mwehehehe!
VoIP is our "batman phone" to the Philippines. they only need dsl connection and the adapter, then they could have unlimited incoming calls from the US and Canada, the callers will not be charged international long distance fees! =) outgoing calls cost a few cents per minute, if they will call phones in US other than in Florida. but anyways, enough of the technical chuva. =P
the batman phone was busted for almost 2 weeks. for someone who's spoiled of having a direct line to the Phils. anytime of the day, this is a nightmare! and so, for almost 2 weeks, i call home using the $5-for-30-minutes phone cards. sakit sa bulsa! =P well, actually, sakit sa bulsa ni je, since i've been using his phone cards. =P
as last resort, as our only hope, i emailed jedi jot (aka Jobert Regilme, jotster)and asked for help. it took only one email, and he knows what i'm talking about already. so we kept exchanging emails to eliminate the trouble with the batman phone. since i can only give info based on what my non-techie folks described to me, i felt like my hands were tied. there were a few more things we wanted fixed, but to make the long story short, we just need to get the damn adapter working and it's gonna be Christmas again.
then last night, 2am here in Florida, my cellphone rang and it was my mama. she told me to call the batman phone. i did. it rang. and i heard someone's voice on the other end. IT'S ALIVE!!!! =D
it was jotster, testing the adapter. =) it was so great to hear his voice again. for one reason, we haven't talked to him since we left last august. and secondly, that means the problem's fixed! my parents were impressed. =) in more or less 20 minutes (sabi ni papa), jobert got the whole system running up. a week ago, they got a PLDT guy to help out, but after a whole week of tinkering with the router and the adapter, he didn't get it to work. what can i say, i have a smart friend! ;-)
so there, batman phone is now up, and jot got the pc and the voip working simultaneously too! it was my fault i messed the pc settings, hehehe!
we've always counted on jobert for the techie stuff in the kada. his "talent" in this field has been proven and is fail-safe. hehehe! he's speaking fluent techie while we were still learning the ABC's. =) way back in college, i remember when janey and i asked for his help in reformatting a pc. not only did he do that, he installed lotsa cool stuff too, and even added mp3s!! (that's the real bonus part) and who will forget the "unlimited passwords" he gave us when we were still discovering the internet?! he would give a list of usernames and passwords to folks, and we get to use them free of charge! dunno if he hacked it or something, but it saved a lot of money for us!
heyyyy, so he greatly contributed to me and my hubby's relationship back then! if not for his free passwords, i wouldn't get to chat with je! hehehe! i knew i should've gotten this guy as my ring bearer, with matching stockings and puffy sleeves. hehehe! ;-P
hats off to jedi jobert! and thanks thanks a million times! we know you're busy, but you still took the time off and extended a helping hand. it might be a simple thing for you to troubleshoot, but for us, it was priceless that you got it up and running again! =) we hope we could pay you back in some other ways....
how about poker chips? mweheheh! ;-) thanks Jobert! *hugs*
