hello 2006!!!

with the looong Christmas+New Year vacation over, i think i'd be seeing more updates from other people's blogs. hehehe! it was a pretty "dry season", the past 2 weeks, people barely updating anything on friendster and their blogs. instead of logging on to the internet, they just might be indulging in eating nonstop. although, there are those who could drop in a line or two, then maybe eat nonstop afterwards. =) i just can't drop the "eat nonstop" line, coz that's what i have been doing lately.

je is watching his weight, i'm watching my tummy. it seems to be the first part of my body that gives a sign that i'm eating more than normal. why not the face? or the legs? or the arms? or better yet, the boobs?! human anatomy has a weird architectural design, not really women-friendly. but then again, it's just a matter of perception. i feel i'm sexy, i think i'm sexy, and so i am. mwehehehe!

and so we welcome 2006 with lots of food. leftover food. and the famous 12 fruits every new year. we are on fruit diet, forcibly, because we can't afford to let them just rot in the fridge. after spending a couple of days, hopping from one supermarket to another, just to find 12 kinds, i think we deserve to enjoy them. good thing fruits are good for the health.

oh, and don't forget the beer! yep, je and i had beer. (woo-hoo! BI ako! hehehe!) i already had a watermelon smirnoff drink at my in-laws' house, but when we got home, we took out a couple of bottles of Miller light.

he was ok with the first gulp, and the second, and the third. when it wasn't ice cold already, he started bailing out. we tried adding salt. adding salt on your beer lessens the "rusty" taste. be careful though, you are more prone to dehydration. anyways, it didn't work, but he was amazed. =P we also tried putting a twist to it. lime slice on beer. this is best with Corona beer, the one imported from Mexico. almost worked, but not quite. he didn't like it too. so he ended up having rhum, while i finished off his beer, and my own bottle.

it feels good keeping traditions alive. fruits, beers, lotsa food. although sometimes i feel silly for keeping them, since i cannot fully justify or explain it to people who might ask. but what the heck, we are entitled to at least one crazy moment in a year. for me, it's not my bday, it's new year. =)

happy new year folks!!! =)

i called up mama midnight of jan. 1 here in the US. aside from the new year, it's her bday too!

i miss being with the family on new year. we always make sure we're home when the clock strikes 12, and we'd greet mama happy bday. mama will definitely tease papa that he didn't get anything for her on her bday, AGAIN! well, what can i say, papa's not the gift-giver type, but he's malambing and all that.

so to save our papa's face, my bro and i will just add his name on our gift, so it would look like he was part of the plan. my mama kinda realized papa's name started showing on the cards when my bro and i were old enough to understand (and accept) that papa's just not the type who gives gifts. =P sure, he would tell us, "bili kayo ng regalo sa mama nyo, share na lang ako", but he would never give a suggestion.

this year, the "responsibility" was shouldered by my bro. he brought gifts for mama and papa for Christmas, and just added my name on it. =) well, i sort of did the same thing. i bought a gift for both of them, and added my name and my bro's. so i guess we forgot about papa this time. hehehe!

although i'm sad i wasn't there this year, i'm still thankful we're all alive and healthy. when my mama started crying on the phone on new year's eve, i told her we're lucky we're just apart physically. that's when she stopped crying.

there are things you realize you take for granted. and you will begin to thank God each morning that you wake up, knowing the people you hold dear lived through another day too.

suddenly, every day becomes a miracle by itself. =)
