moderating moderators
being a moderator in a busy forum is both a blessing and a curse.
just recently, we crossed paths with an old-school die-hard sarah g fanatic. the type who will mudsling and bash other artists once may masabi lang na di maganda about sarah. i found it funny and annoying. i mean, c'mon, get a life! this is shubez, where nothing is real. not even the artists' names are real sometimes. hehe!
so anyways, one time, she (or he, but i doubt he's a real HE if ever this member is biologically male) made a really bitchy comment about an artist, and that ticked one of my co-moderators. so my co-mod banned her from posting immediately. all her replies will undergo review before it gets posted on the public forum.
usually, members take that as a sign that maybe they really are doing something against the forum rules and regulations, and they change their ways. but this member, nuh-uh. she went on ranting:
i was absofuckinglutely irritated.
*sigh*
sometimes i wish people will realize that the online "job" is pro-bono, everything is driven by concern and passion and the want to make the site better than all the other fan sites. i hope they realize that we can't possibly stay online 24/7 to babysit everyone. or attend to their requests. probably half of the members of the site are young teens, who still need guidance as far as posting in public forums is concerned. we would like to make a difference, to sort of "breed" a new type of fan group who are smart and with even the minutest hint of class. i must say, it really takes a lot out of the staff's free time, but out of the love for sarah and the site and the general community, most of the staff plows on.
*sigh*
i know this is just one thankless, ungrateful, bitchy member, and most of the members feel "secure" when moderators start stepping in to do their job. but it also made me think, nagiging power hungry na nga ba kami? nagpapowertrip na ba ko? whenever i say something, how do people take it? do i sound like i know everything? do i sound like i'm always right, and what i say should be followed? i know i can be pushy at times. i wonder if that's how i come across ALL THE TIME now?
is it time to moderate the moderators? =)

LOL.
personally, i like censorship, essentially yun ginagawa ng moderator right? freedom of speech is overrated.
