bitten, smitten

so here's the dilemma again of whether to like the movie version, or the book version.

i pre-ordered the Twilight 2-disc edition from amazon. it release last saturday, but since amazon can't guarantee weekend deliveries, they decided to send a free Video-on-Demand rental to everyone who ordered the dvd from them. i got a $3.99 credit on my account for use in viewing the movie online. actually, i opted to download it, and watch afterwards. i was afraid i might get bufferring problems since for sure, marami rin manonood sa video-on-demand thing nila. hehe!

ok, ang haba daw ng intro ah. hehehe! so i downloaded the movie for an hour and a half. i asked permission from hubby je to give me alone time. ayaw nya kasing panoorin yung movie until di pa nya nababasa yung book eh. so he lets me be.

i was already deep into the movie within the first 5 minutes. is it my anticipation of the upcoming scenes? my thoughts after watching it twice in a day:
  • i actually think the lead actors have good chemistry. the tension between them, their exchange of lines, for me it worked out pretty well. or is it because i like them both? i was hoping they've given Bella's stubbornness more character development in the movie though. there are some catchy lines that i like too. "how long have you been 17?... a while". hehe!
  • acting-wise, it wasn't so demanding for kristen and rob. i've expected that somehow, since it was supposed to be a light story anyways. i think they've given justice to the characters they portray naman. they made the most out of what's expected of them kumbaga.
  • there are some scenes in the book that i missed sa movie. the biology class, for example. but i understand it will slow things down pag nakasama pa.
  • janeius mentioned the story progressed slowly, but in my opinion, it was even faster compared to the book. there were some scenes that were run together to probably save unnecessary shots. the first half of the movie is understandably character and plot building, kaya siguro wala pa masyadong aksyon. hehe!
  • the musical score was wonderful! i really liked that song towards the end when bella and edward were dancing at the prom. what was it, flightless bird-something? really nice.
all in all, i would recommend the movie to folks who doesn't have the patience and/or time to read. although, if you can afford to read the book first, i would recommend that. the movie tried to put twists on the events that might confuse readers eh. but readers can definitely relate to the movie right away, and would be able to pinpoint merged scenes, deleted scenes, and added plots.

later darating na yung dvd set ko today! i've seen the movie twice already, so i'm ready to see the special features na. hopefully it gets here on-time.

without taking into account the technical aspects of the movie, and without the book (and thus without expectations on how the story will unfold) i would probably give the movie 9.5 of 10 stars. with the book as reference, i guess i'm giving it just 8.5. hehe! arte no? pero it is a good movie, highly recommended for entertainment purposes. if you are looking for something with depth though, might as well stick to Silence of the Lambs. hehe!

oh, and i soooo like the kilig scenes. *giggles*
is it rob's smirks, or kstew's supressed smiles, that makes it more kilig? hehehe!

wow, tumatanda ata akong pabaligtad. hahaha!

  • You'll love everything about the DVD! Rob is just funny dun sa Commentary! I love that guy hihihi...I love all the songs particularly Flightless Bird (PROM song), Never Think (background music of bella + edward's first date), Supermasive Blackhole (Baseball), & of course Decode.

  • that makes the two of us liza!

pinanood ko na rin yung movie with the commentary, tawa ako ng tawa sa comments nila. hehe! kstew was so embarrassed dun sa dance studio scene niya, and rob was chuckling everytime he's trying to look fierce sa movie. hehe! it was fun reading their side comments. =P

imma get the target version siguro. kulang ata yung sa amazon? rip off! anyways, i'll keep the amazon version na rin siguro, pangharabas. mura lang naman sya eh. hehehe!

  • pinabili ko sa ate ko yung Target hehe. pero sabi ng iba, pareho lang daw eh, wanko bakit 3disc.

nung una kong binasa, di ko pa alam na sila kristen ang gaganap.. was thinking of rory as in sa gilmore girls.. tas syempre Edward was like Nate-like from Gossip girl.. pero all in all, okey ako sa casting, lalo na keh Kristen and ng Cullen family.

galing ni kristen, perfect sya for bella.
