little updates
i would really love to blog about my thoughts and not what's happening in life right now. probably because puro trabaho lang ako in the past few weeks (months?). since the Great ReOrg (that's what i would like to call it), sobrang di na nabakante ang oras ko sa trabaho. i can sneak in emails and SG's forums kasi when i'm compiling or running something, i have like a few minutes' downtime. and i'm in front of the computer most of the time anyways. hehe! but other than those, i can't keep a hobby, i can't do anything much on weekdays. and on weekends, i'm too lazy to pick up my feet and do something besides my usual routine of household chores and personal stuff to take care of. it would take a friend-in-town, a birthday, or some special ocassion to make me get up and go out.
does this come with age? na-outlive ko na ba ang gimiks and would rather stay at home resting? or siguro it comes with the recession? haha! pag lumabas kasi, most likely, we will spend at least $40. that's being conservative pa. a meal at a so-so resto could cost us $30 na agad eh. in pesos, that's already around P1300... enough to feed my family and cousins for a day. hubby je would tell me not to compute our tab when eating out para ma-enjoy ko daw yung food. but there is that nagging feeling na what i can save, i can send over to pinas. if i can save $2 a meal, and i don't miss it naman, then why not? it adds up.
recently, i stopped driving by mcdo or dunkin' for my morning coffee. i just bring my mug, or kumukuha dun sa free coffee sa office. hehe! we stopped using our coffee maker na rin. we just got the instant coffee, yung kinalakihan kong Nescafe classic. i'm not a coffee connoisseur naman to know the difference, for me, it's still coffee. saves money to buy the filters, the electricity to power the brewer, the more-expensive-by-the-cup ground coffee. it's the little things.
speaking of saving... last week, i tried to go on a canned soup diet. damn, i know it's gonna hurt my kidneys in the long run dahil sobra sa sodium content ng mga canned soup dito! somehow it helped me save (it costs less than $2 per can), and it helped me drink lots of water too. sa takot na magkasakit ako sa bato, i end up chugging down at least a gallon of water siguro everyday sa office. that also meant frequent bladder breaks.
i don't know the long term effects of that kind of diet... but i realized, no amount of savings can match the importance of my health. mas mahal pa rin ang dialysis kesa sa $5-meal vs $2-canned soups.
i might do the canned soup thing once or twice every two weeks. i still love the italian wedding soup and the beef stew. hehehe! tigas ng ulo!
once a week, i have a salad for lunch. not that i'm becoming a health buff (see previous paragraph), but because my mentee is on it. she started high school this year and is becoming more conscious of her figure. sabi nya she's on a diet daw, so i told her sasamahan ko sya. once a week, when we meet, i bring salads for both of us. when she was in middle school, we always have fast food. big mac, whopper, pizza, etc.
she stopped taking soda na rin, so we always have water with our salad. she lost some weight na. or maybe her baby fat just decided to bid adieu? hehe! regardless, i told her she's never looked greater. which is true. but you know the teen years, they have lots of confidence issues. i guess this is where the real "work" starts with this mentoring thing. hehe!
bro is coming to the US this november!
since mommy letty can't travel alone, eibron needs to fly to the US, spend a few weeks here, and then accompany mommy letty pauwing pinas. sosyal si mommy, may tagasundo pa! *lol* wala na kasing may bakasyon sa amin to accompany mommy sa Dec.1 trip nya. i can't fly home that early if i want to be in pinas for the New Year. so ayun... my tito ebet decided to just bring bro here. hitting two birds with one stone na rin... para matatakan na ulet yung passport ni cabron. this will be his first trip out of the country after he turned 21 eh. i don't know about the technicalities and the legalities, but something about reaching that age that you need to prove to the US immigration na hindi ka magti-TNT. hehehe!
looking forward to seeing him here ulet! either i have him fly to FL, or i fly to NY to spend the holidays probably? although, medyo torn ako kasi medyo mahal pamasahe sa thanksgiving... eh magkikita rin naman kami sa pinas soon. probably instead of buying plane tickets, ibigay ko na lang sa kanya para pocket money. choices choices...

ako din.. every morning, dunkin coffee.. then eventually i stopped and tried the coffee from the vending machine coz it's only .50cents.. tapos lumipat naman ako sa nestle 3 in 1 coffee in a sachet.. when i computed.. for one box it was about .10cents each sachet.. hahaha! but now, like you, ive settled for the instant coffee in a jar.. make my coffee at home then bring the mug to work.. =D
