my birthstone is amethyst, considered as the "anting-anting" against getting drunk. here's an excerpt from a site i came upon: the Greek work "amethystos" basically can be translated as "not drunken." Amethyst was considered to be a strong antidote against drunkenness, which is why wine goblets were often carved from it! The gemstone still symbolizes sobriety.
until last night(?). since it's v-day yesterday, my hubby came home with a 6-pack bacardi green apple flavored malt drink (among other things), for celebration. it's not vodka-based, which is good coz i'm not a big fan of those, but i thought they looked the same. it didn't say "vodka" on its label though.
after dinner at Burger King, we went home to have a few drinks over chocolate-dipped strawberries and cherries. while watching AI and Jeopardy, and eating the cute desserts, i was chugging away my first bottle of the bacardi thing. didn't feel a thing. i just felt a little warm, which is good. and which is normal. so i thought, why not another round? if i'd get drunk, we're at the comfort of our home. and earlier, i verbally declared that i want to get boozed that night over something which i lied about to je. (can't tell you guys!) hehehe! so i asked for another bottle.
just a few minutes after finishing off the second bottle, i felt this tight knot on my shoulders. creeping up to the back of my neck, and spreading to my upper back, to my shoulder blades. being the "seasoned" drinker that i was, i know it only happens when i have had vodka-based drinks, or when i've already had too much "any-kind" drink, or both, or whichever comes first. =)
i was in so much pain, that je had to massage my back and shoulders. he could feel my shoulder muscles in a tight bulge, the kind you get when stressed out. i was apprehensive of lying on my stomach for fear of puking, but nope, my stomach held everything down. hehehe! i don't know what happened, but i sure know that i lost to alcohol. i have a new tolerance level of it. one bottle of vodka-based, malt-based or drinks of that family will do. i'd stick to what i'm more familiar with: beer, tequila and wine. =P
this is what happens when you "reform" your drinking habits. hehe! so should i say, keep on drinking? =P
