fast and non-furious

i dropped off alfredo at the airport this evening. he's got a convention to attend to in Tennesse, and will not be back until early wednesday morning. it was the first time i drove his 2005 Scion TC on an interstate... it's soooo fast, i was afraid to step on the gas, baka lumipad ako! hehehe!

on my way home, i was stopped by a red light at a major road. when the lights turned green, i hit the gas and the car lurched forward. i thought, man, this car is really fast, i left all the other cars behind. =) before i even realized what was happening, there's this other car "running" after me. i can tell he's past the speed limit, 'cause I AM on max of speed limit. he zoomed past me, and i tried to slow down. i think he thinks i'm gonna race him! =P

not wanting to give him that idea, i slowed down and drove on the slowest lane. i signalled i'm gonna make a right turn, and half a block before my turn, the lights turned red. this car swerved to the slowest lane to block me. i can tell he did it on purpose: he didn't make a right turn, there were no other cars on the other lanes for him to take that "free" lane, and he was looking at my car from his rear view mirror.

i just had to give out a chuckle. =P

man, you are lucky for several reasons... i'm already married, it's not my car, we're not in the Philippines.

if i'm still single... without any cares in the world, and without any worries of leaving behind a loving hubby (as well as my parents and bro), i'd race you to the ends of the world.

if it's my car... and i "know" how my baby sounds and feels when taken to the limit, i'd race you till i choke out carbon.

if we're in the Philippines... where speed limits are non-existent, where drivers swerve from lane 1 to 3 in a couple of seconds, where streets have more potholes than reflector lights, where driving simply feels like being in a Daytona video game... man, you'd be lucky if you'd be able to drive at all.

being the "rehabilitated driver" i am now, following stop signs, speed limits and all the safety rules and regs on the road, i just made my right turn meekly... as if i'm not one of the speed demons along roxas boulevard and macapagal highway, especially at past midnight.

i somehow miss racing along the streets again, but i refuse to have a relapse. =D
