freebies crazy
i thought only Pinoys are fond of freebies stuff.
i went to this "exclusive", by-invitation-only grand opening of a furniture shop. on the invites, they noted that they will give out free crystal candy bowls to the first 1000 guests. they also offer free appetizers and drinks to those who will grace the event. one problem, this store is known for sort of "over-pricing" their stuff. so thinking people wouldn't waste their precious time (considering this is US, where almost every minute counts) , i took my time and arrived at the store 10 minutes after the opening time. after all, i was only after the crystal bowl. well, ok, maybe look at the recliners/lay-z-boys, but i'm not expecting to get a good bargain here.
to my surprise, puno ang parking lot, madaming tao pa ang dumarating, at lahat sila, may invites din! so it was just a marketing strategy, ok it worked. =P
pagpasok ko sa store, guess what... ubos na yung food, and there's a crowd lining up to get their free crystal candy bowl. there were a few people walking around talking to sales reps. but almost everyone is carrying a plate and/or a can of soda. for a few moments, i thought i was gatecrashing a party or something. hehe!
mahilig din pala sila sa mga ganon. i doubt if they were there to purchase something, all the stuff are just too fancy, and highly priced. funny thing, you could hear some people try to inquire about this and that, but they would say afterwards, "oh, we're just looking around really". hehehe! i know this line... when you just wanna window shop, that's the line to use. =P
pareho lang din, pinoy o kano, mahilig sa libre. isa lang ang difference, mas marami sa pinoy ang garapal at sugapa. while for the kano, they do it with grace. they dress up, they chat with sales reps and they at least pretend to be interested. =P
since i'm a pinoy, i acted like one. i went straight to the recliner's section (and found everything insanely overpriced, no surprise there), went to get my crystal bowl, and headed home. no luck with the food. no big deal, ganon din pag sa manila eh, madali maubos ang pagkain.
guess some things apply across-all-races. =P
