on truth and lies

heading for a heartbreak, which would you prefer? "break it to me gently" or "baby, don't you break my heart slow?"

if you've been lied to, and at that time you didn't know it was a lie... would you prefer to know the truth afterwards, or just live the lie as the truth?

~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~

do you believe in "what you don't know won't hurt you"?

~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~

honesty is the best policy, ever since i believe in that. but i believe it is also true that each of us has a dark secret, buried deep down our souls. so dark that we do not want to acknowledge it, and we choose not to think about it, more so talk about it. but it is there.

it could be as complicated as a fleeting relationship you had that you never told anyone about. or as simple as bullying a childhood friend into giving in to your demands. whatever it is, i believe we all have that. at least one. something that makes us imperfect in our own eyes, so we decide to bury them in the past.

it's selective amnesia in progress.

a friend of mine once quoted: "when you lie, you stick to your story as if it's the truth. the moment will come when you will have to tell them it's a lie, but that moment wouldn't come if you know how to hide the evidence".

it may be true. but what if the evidence was exposed, but you were just not confronted? would you stick to your story and know that you look like a complete fool, or will you straighten the record, after all, you're caught, what's the point in lying?

and if you would put an end to the lie, how will you do it?

  • I prefer "Baby Don't You Break My Heart Slow". Nothing hurts more than living a lie.

Sometimes though, people have to lie. Perhaps if only to save other people's face or yourself. What I believe in is that you simply have to live as noble as you can. You see, doing the 'noble' thing might require a lie.

  • haha! that's interesting.. lie detector test.. you think it's an effective way of checking if someone is lying tlaga? hehe baka kasi kpag nerbiyoso yung tao all readings are erratic. haha! =?

anyhoo, 'bout truths&lies... tama si lei eh, if you would lie, at least lie in situations where you won't really hurt someone.. at least man lang walang naaapakan. "white lie" ika nga. hehe but in love, i would think that as much as possible be as truthful and honest as you can. and if you ask me, i'd rather hear the truth and hurt than be lied to and be happy. =)
