geek squad
bro is starting up a computer rental business back home. they already have around 7 units running and they are planning on putting up a few more. with just one person manning the main computer, this posed a problem with their monitoring and billing. mama requested that we develop something that will automatically compute used time, amount to be paid, and keep user records for their promo.
after discussing it a bit, my hubby immediately switched on his laptop and started playing around Excel and VB. i just took a nap and a bath, then he got something running already!
it was amazing, that was the first time i saw my hubby do programming work. i usually don't peek over his laptop when he brings home some work. this is the first time i saw him "in action". to think that he's not familiar with VB, he came up with something pretty cool! =)
i was the QA of the program, throwing "demands", and he incorporates them. we'd make a great team! only, before going to bed that night, we were still discussing the program, thinking of ways to simplify the functions. it seemed so ordinary as talking about what to have for breakfast the next day. it was funny in a way. hehehe!
mind you, being a real programmer, he made it dummy-proof. adding verifications, checks, conditions and all that stuff. it's completely unnecessary in this case, but if you breath and live computer programs, you'd be itching to put it anyways.
and he scratched that itch. i married a geek, and i'm proud of it! when mama sees the program, she'd be proud too. ;-)
je and i played weboggle last saturday night. we started a little slow, picking just a few words and landing on the top 20, or even 30, i think? then on one round, we suddenly landed on second place!
we added up our scores. even if we didn't have duplicated words, we wouldn't have ended up with the total score that we had. then we realized, we were not the only ones playing as "team pinoy"!
that was the first time somebody joined our team. =) it feels great knowing that somebody else found "identity" in "team pinoy". we started wondering if it's one of our friends who find sunday mornings a good time to play boggle online. hehehe! or it might be a group. they add up around 30-50 points per round. that should be around 10 unique words aside from the ones we found. pretty smart pinoys at that!
well, we landed on the first place at least twice. i lost track, i was too overwhelmed, hehehe! GO PINOY! ;-)
