official senior senior

for the life of me, ang alam ko i'm a senior developer, pero meron pa palang senior-senior. *lol*

i got on board the company as a Programmer/Analyst II, which is technically a senior position.

then yesterday, i was called to the director's office by my manager. they were congratulating me for being promoted to senior position. i was like, "wha?". they must've taken it as disbelief or surprise, but on my part, it's confusion. *lol*

so anyways, to cut the chase, i am now a senior-senior! suweeeet! the best part is that it came with a raise. haha! i don't mind the title, i want the raise, and i got it. thank God it would be in effect before the year ends. that means that IF we ever get a bonus next year, the percentage would be based on my salary with the increase for the promotion.

why do i sound so happy about it? because with the present economy, a salary increase is like the unicorn. very elusive, that you would think it's just fiction. hehehe!

my account of the events.... my manager called me yesterday while i was pounding away on my keyboard, posting at sarah's website. haha! initial reaction ko was "oh shit! nahuli ata akong nagbubulakbol sa internet!" haha! guilty. and my manager's face was serious. then when i got into the director's office, they closed the door. closed door meetings at my director's office are "serious matters".

then ayun na nga, sinabi nila na i'm being promoted to (officially) senior developer, and that the process just flew by and signatures didn't take that long. heard a few more good words and i got up, shook hands and left the office feeling.... weird. *lol*

anyways, so that's that. as i've mentioned i'll take the raise! it's not much. but hey, it's better than nothing. =P

i kept the news from hubby je. pero i texted mama right away. nagreply si mama, eh 2am ng madaling araw don. hehe! i had to attend my Tuesday night Dale Carnegie classes, that means past 9pm pa ako makakauwi. it's hard to keep news from hubby je! =P

on my way home, around 9:30pm na ata yon, i dropped by walmart to get a bottle of sparkling wine. paguwi ng bahay, i broke the news to hubby je. then we went out to celebrate, punta kaming steak house. hehe! after dinner, we dropped by starbucks, then got home and popped the now-chilled bottle of sparkling wine. hehe!

it's a nice feeling being recognized. after all the morale-downers in the office, somehow this is an upper. now, to wait for friday to see the real upper upper. =P
