take the detour
i feel so disconnected with my blog lately. i'm finding it hard to write about the happenings in my life. or lack thereof. =P
hubby je read somewhere that being spontaneous is the key to long life. actually, the key to a seemingly long life. when your days pass by in routine, your memory doesn't register anything new. things seem automatic. this explains how we could talk on the phone on the way to or from work, and we turn and stop and go with little attention on the road. we've done it so many times that our body seem to develop a rhythm. i think this is also the reason why when we pass by a certain road we usually take, but we're going somewhere else this time, we seem to be thrown out of our senses and we jolt back like something is wrong. either that, or you really take the wrong turn and realize "ay, feeling ko papasok ako sa trabaho!". hehe!
on the other hand, when we are being spontaneous, our minds register a new memory. aside from diverting from the routine, the thrill of doing something unplanned triggers our mind to take note of it. and what happens as a consequence of that "detour", good or bad.
i'm afraid i'm starting to lose that sense of spontaneity. is responsibility killing it? because of the everyday small stuff to be done, skipping a routine usually meant a bigger task later on. skip doing the laundry, skip mowing the lawn, skip taking out the trash, skip doing the dishes, skip doing the grocery. how about skip life? skip fun? skip memories?
i'm determined to bring back that side of me that goes out with friends at a moment's notice. or a sudden detour to the coffee shop even though laundry's waiting for me. or an out-of-town trip planned a couple of hours prior. or a date with hubby even though i've already prepared dinner.
i am making wonderful memories with hubby je, but i know we could make it even MORE wonderful.
just gotta find that child-like spontaneity again... before we wake up one day and realize we're already 40. =)

Hi Harbie,
Isn't it really good to do some reality check at times? Hehe.. I have been in a lot of thinking lately and I know I have to do something about it.
Spontaneity really matters yata talaga sa Aquarian. Don't know with you but if things seem to be super monotonous na, I'll get bored.
Oh well, for sure you'll find that spontaneity again. Kuddos for taking charge. :P
