on phones
as i was browsing (yet some more) about phones, i came across this article from The Onion, the bogus news website.
i just find it hilarious, and knowing the people at The Onion, they will really try to piss you off with their take on the latest "hot" thing in the market. read on....
you can find the actual "article" here. hehe! liza gurl or bespren reeyuh, if you are getting an iPhone, be sure to put on your best deflective attitude, i'm pretty sure there will be a lot of iPhone-bashing like this one in the first few weeks it's released. =P most probably coming from people who can't afford it. seriously. sourgraping, so to speak. hehehe!
i feel sorry for the engineering brains behind this product who are not getting the kind of attention and recognition they deserve. the marketing geniuses should've put a rein on the media coverage of this product. because of too much hype, i feel like it's digging its own grave by setting too high expectations from consumers. i hope it will match up to the noise it's making right now.
so far, the only electronic thing in my list that matched up to the hype built around it, is the Nintendo Wii. the harder it is to get one, the more exclusive it feels to own one. and if you own one, you will know why there's not much of it in the market. you would think every Wii gaming console was built from scratch by hand. sure, the graphics were not wow-great, but they never claimed it to be in the first place. they claimed a different gaming experience, and that's exactly what you'd get with it. and some exercise as well. hehe!
what are the iPhone's claim to fame? not really sure, i'm not reading much about it, just took a quick look at the specs. besides the unique no-keypad design, it will have OS X as platform, a modest 2MP cam, mp3 support, wi-fi, is quad-band, comes in the ubiquitous iBlack color, a built-in monster of 4 or 8GB, and the rest were still being kept secret by Apple bigwigs. nothing beats the shock factor. the hype prepares the ground for the ultimate shock of what else is inside that beautiful piece of gadget. but if there's nothing more coming our way, i say that's a weak style of introducing a breakthrough product like this. i hope there's more. and i'm not hoping it for my sake, but for friends who are looking into getting one. *winks at liza and ria*
well, we have a few more days to find out if it will be added to the Wii on my list. hehehe!
as for me, i've pretty much made up my mind on an N93i. i couldn't find one on the internet though, so i'm having my bro buy it for me, then have it ship all the way from across the pacific. *fidgets* i'm so excited! =D
sure, N95 is smaller and has 5MP and has GPS... but it looks just like any other phone of the N-series. N95 is smaller compared to N93i, but still big nevertheless. in my case, still not pocketable, so i'd still end up putting it in my purse. as for the 5MP, i'm not an MP-crazy shooter, i still go for the optical zoom, which N93i has, by the way. all 3x optical zoom. ain't it sweet? the only camera phone with a built-in optical zoom. oh, i'm drooling already. hehehe! as for the N95's GPS feature, i found out you have to subscribe to use it. errr, no thanks. it's not practical for me, since i usually know where i'm going. and i've never been a big fan of GPS stuff. it stresses me out, like having a backseat driver, only with a screen and an electronic voice. hehe! je would have better use of it, but i'm not buying the unit for him... soooo. hehehehe! =P
other than those above, the N95 and N93i features are almost the same. "almost" meaning nothing that i would miss in my everyday use and ocassional "flaunting". hehehe!
i'm just afraid that this (tentatively) new phone of mine would replace all the electronic gadgets i bought for myself so far: an mp3 player, a digicam, and a laptop... since this new phone can store and play mp3s, has a built-in digicam and video recorder, and is wi-fi/3G enabled.
wonders of technology. angst of our pockets. =P

Ano ba yan!!!!
hmmmm....Interesting...:-D
