immobile over mobile phones

i've been spending a considerable amount of time on the internet browsing for new phone models and reading reviews about them. as most of my friends know, i lost my phone due to sheer stupidity and some stroke of bad luck. *ungh*

i found myself wanting a new phone for myself. a unit that i really WANT, and not something that came along because it's bundled with my carrier subscription plans. not that i hated my Motorola KRZR, i actually loved it! =) i was ready to spend at least a couple more years with it, until it got lost. i really felt bad. but not devastatingly bad, since i didn't pay for it anyways. hehehe!

going back to my point, i WANT a new phone. but i don't know what i want. =P

i've been looking at sony ericsson w880i, nokia's n95 and n93i. i've also read reviews about k810i. thing is, something is always off with the units.
  • w880i doesn't have as much features, it's mostly for music lovers. no infrared, camera flash... i love the silver casing though! really looks sooo cool, and it is sooo thin!
  • n93i is soooo huge.... i love the different look of this phone though, it doesn't look like a phone at all. really trendy!
  • k810i has a joystick. which i don't like. because i can't operate it properly. but i've read people raving about the camera and its xenon flash. considering it's a cybershot phone, it's probably true.
  • n95 is just expensive. and i've read quite a number of user reviews saying it's all just hype. but i'm not sure how reliable they are since they did not specify if they own a unit, or is just bashing it because they can't afford it, thus they want the demand to drop, so the price will also drop. hehehe! this is the most feature-packed though, and smaller than the other feature-packed one, the n93i.
i want something that feels solid when i hold it. but since manufacturers go for the look and feel, i think i might have a hard time finding one. most of them are made of plastic. or if they have metal in them, is so thin. i want something that feels as solid as my nokia 8850.

my phone-nut bro has been doing the canvasing for me, so i can decided whether i should buy from pinas or from the US. also, he knows a lot more about phones so whatever is cool with him, is cool with me. if a phone unit is something my bro would like to have, it's definitely a hot one. hehehe! that's how much i trust his taste when it comes to picking a phone. =)

i am not in a hurry to get a new phone, but i've invested some time on my research that i feel like i want to get one of the 4 i mentioned above, before a new model to drool over comes out.

what do you think people? =)

  • I hope I am not too late yet :-)

Try and see if this IPhone (Mac) will pass your standard. I've been eyeing this for a few months now. It should release by AT&T in the next 9 days or so (I think).

My plan is to not extend my contact just to get this IPhone from AT&T. Harharhar....

    I want that!!! =P

  • thanks for the input guys! uhmmm, i'm not into the iPhone eh, even when my bestfriend mentioned it too. i trust her taste in anything aesthetically pleasing, but not this time. =D it's just a bonus for me if the phone looks cool, kaya lang wala pa sa iphone yung ibang hanap ko eh. maybe pag second gen na nya?

it sure looks kick-ass though. no stylus, no buttons... you guys better bring moist towelettes with you if you have greasy fingers. hehehe! =P
