ely, barbie and jinky

i saw an episode of Pipol about 3 of my fave music artists. first was ely of eheads, then barbie of HYP/barbie's cradle, and lastly, jinky of freestyle.

ely's interview left me raising my eyebrows. it seems like he doesn't want to acknowledge that his former stint with eheads helped his new band get noticed. no matter how bitter their band's breakup is, i think he owes his former bandmates a good word or two. with all the new talented artists getting discovered, he ought to be thankful that the generation who worshipped them are still alive. if he's starting his career just now, he won't stand a chance. for all we know, his current "fame" are just remnants of that of eheads. he will always be known as the former vocalist of eheads, and he knows that. the hell with the "they have to forget about eheads, i can't move on with the new band" claim. instead of saying that, wouldn't "i had fun with eheads, but i'm having more fun with ??? today" sound better? just a thought. i guess i was expecting a more sensible and sensitive answer from him. frankly, he sounded so self-centered. =P

barbie. oh my barbie. hehehe! =D i remember the days when i would play my Barbie's Cradle CD over and over until i can sing even the instrumental part of their songs. that CD was so scratched, i had to buy a new one. =P i even went out with some friends to malate to watch their gig, on a tuesday (school) night. something i don't usually do, because i'm very disciplined about keeping my gimik scheds on weekends only. hehehe! i'm still curious about that issue on her sexual preference. she didn't answer it directly, she just said it hurts when people are talking about you over something that's not true. now, which part is not true? that she WAS a lesbian, or that she once went out with angel aquino? still, i love her and her music. who cares about sexual preferences anyways? it's as trivial as how one prefers his egg cooked. =)

and then there's jinky. i almost had a complete attendance on all their major concerts in the metropolitan manila. liz, my fave concert buddy, could attest that i'm a huge fan! when they had a concert at the Engineering complex at UST, we were there, dancing on top of a makeshift bench. needless to say, that bench gave way, but that didn't stop us from going wild. i've had dreams that i went out with her, toured with the band, etc., that it's almost creepy to think about it now. and after being led to believe that she's flirting with Top Suzara on stage everytime they perform, it turned out that she's married to his bro, Tat. =P I would love to hear them in a concert again. don't know the chances of Top going back to freestyle though. oh well, jinky will do, it was her voice that i really love about freestyle anyways.

i wonder what SideA has to say about all these bands who get disbanded after only several years of success. SideA has been the icon, more like The Queen , or The Aerosmith of pinas. oh please, calling out to promoters, concert kayo sa Tampa, Florida! =)
