gagawa ako ng lusis.

well, that's the name of the project that i will be working on, lusis. it's a relatively new project, there will only be 3 main developers in the team, me included. hopefully, this is just the initial setup, for i will be needing all the help i can get to pull a stunt of delivering a piece of code that will work in production right away. i can barely understand the system, and the part where we will develop the codes. =P

the client is based in france. we had the conference luncheon meeting last tuesday. in between bites of my chicken sub, i tried my best but i couldn't understand the person on the other line. i hope to learn a few french phrases before we start on the project. something that will be useful in breaking the ice during meetings regarding deadlines. hehehe!

anyways, i went out to my first full-hour lunch break today. Kuya Fred (he's not happy with "Mang") and Ate May invited me out for lunch. we drove (kuya fred did, on his brand new luxury sedan!) to the nearest pinoy resto, and ate our hearts out. i had sinigang and dinuguan. nilibre ako ni kuya fred! he was especially delighted when he learned that my hubby's name is alfredo. he said no wonder i remembered his name right away.

we were talking non-stop for an hour, them asking me about my life here and in pinas, and me asking them about working in the company. they said the company values people so much, that they wouldn't hire one if they won't have a position for them after the current need. i think this is good, unlike those companies that see people as dispensible commodities. the downside is that current employees are sometimes given too much work at one point. but tenureship is amazing, there were people who's been there for 17 years already! they said medical benefits used to be free, but since the company expanded several years ago, they had to charge to minimize expenses. they also gave me pointers about investing in 401K and stock options.

by the way, just for the record, i'm the only female developer in my department. *bow*

on my way home, medyo traffic, so people are cutting off each other's lanes to get ahead. two stoplights away from home, somebody cut my lane with a sharp zoom. i was ready to be pissed off, when i saw the car type and the plate number. si alfredo!

and dig this, it took him almost a minute to realize ako na yung nasa likod nya. unahan kami pauwi, he took the alternate route, i took the usual one. ako nauna. hehehe! eat my dust, hon! mwehehe!
