burglary for wii?

second day of the year, nanakawan kami.

i got home around 8pm yesterday. i came in from the backdoor dahil dun ako sa backyard laging nagpa-park. when i switched on the light at the kitchen, i noticed the front door was ajar. so i called up je using my cellphone, thinking he must've forgotten to lock it when he left for work. nung nakausap ko na sya, sabi nya, sa likod daw sya naka-park the night before so sa backdoor din sya dumaan nung pumasok sya sa work. kinabahan na ko.

i stayed on the cellphone with him asking if he was joking, i also stayed at the front door, lumabas pa ko to check if anybody was still on the yard. for some reason, ayokong isara agad yung pinto. then instantly, naisip ko na baka may tao pa sa loob ng bahay namin!

i dunno if that was bravery or stupidity, pero i went inside the house again, still on the phone with je. i checked the small guest room, nobody inside. i went inside the computer room, the plastic cabinet's doors were opened. but nobody in there too. yung pinto na lalagyan ng vacuum namin, nakabukas ng onti. i checked that too, walang tao. i walked towards the tv, and i noticed na yung laptop nasa lapag pa rin, nagcha-charge. the tv's there. the dvd player's there. i looked for the other laptop. that morning, i left it inside the bag, on the floor. it wasn't there. i found it on the dining set, on one of the chairs. i checked right away kung may laman, nandun naman. the last place i didn't check, bedroom namin. so i went there, switched on the lights, and there! all the drawers were drawn. lahat ng laman, either nasa kama or sa lapag. napamura talaga ako sa phone and immediately asked je to come home. he thought i was joking. sabi ko, "nanakawan tayo!" and then we hung up.

i looked at the mess. pati cabinet ko, binuksan lahat. yung 2 drawers namin by the bed. yung lalagyan ko ng underwear. yung plastic container ng mga papeles namin. my bags were all over the place. my jewelry box was on the floor. then i found my camera bag on the floor too. i grabbed it and checked if the camera is still there. nandun pa rin! so i took it out, and snapped a few shots of the mess. i noticed there were muddy footmarks on the carpet. then i got the bolo from underneath our bed. i went out of the bedroom, grabbed the cordless phone, went to the kitchen and grabbed another knife, a smaller one. i called up je again, sabi nya lock myself up sa isang room in the house. so punta ako sa computer room. i decided sa computer room kasi kung kakailanganin ko ng internet or webcam, may pc don. tapos may mga pang-weightlifting equipments pa. je is on the way home na daw. we hang up then i called mama. sabi ni mama, lumabas daw ako ng bahay at lumayo muna, kasi baka daw balikan ako kung nakitang mag-isa lang akong dumating sa bahay. so lumabas nga ako, pumunta ako sa kalsada, sa tapat ng kapitbahay namin. after a few more minutes, nakita ko na yung kotse ni je. i was just so happy we're safe!

police came in and took our statements. then dumating na rin yung forensics. lifted fingerprints and took pictures for almost 3 hours. dumating din yung mom-in-law at bro-in-law ko nung nabalitaan nila from us.

we found out na sa bedroom window namin dumaan. he pried it open, causing the glass to crack up. hindi nya binasag yung glass, sinira nya yung lock. and siguro naghahanap sya ng cash, kasi drawers talaga ang hinalungkat nya.

what's weird is, there were a couple of laptops na nakalabas, pero di kinuha. all my jewelries were also intact, nakasabog lang sa floor. yung digicam ko, nandun lang din. i thought walang nawala. but je told me, he just bought 3 nintendo wiis that morning before going to work. he bought one para kapalit nung pinangregalo namin, and a couple more para sa 2 bros nya, kasi nagpapabili din. nilagay nya sa breakfast counter namin, para ma-surprise daw ako pag-uwi ko. so aside from the 3 wiis, we didn't lose anything but peace of mind. and that is very priceless. naisip namin ni je, baka sinundan sya from the store, lalo na nung nakitang 3 wiis yung dala nya. kasi bakit walang ibang kinuha? yung laptop nakatiwangwang lang sa lapag, di hamak na mas magaan at mas mahal. we were thinking baka cover-up lang yung ginulo nya yung bedroom para hindi halatang yung wii lang ang pakay nya sa bahay namin.

naglinis kami until almost 2am. niremedyuhan muna yung broken window. today, je is working from home, i took a half-day off (be coming in after lunch), and his youngest bro is here to keep him company pag umalis ako papasok ng work.

the forensics officer told us we're still lucky, because the burglar didn't trash the entire house. she has seen worse pa daw. we're also thankful na wala kami sa bahay nung nangyari yon, dahil kung na-confront nya kami, malamang pinatay kami non!

we're seriously considering installing an alarm system. definitely new windows. another option is to move to a new place. although, that's the last on our list.

i hate the thought that somebody dangerous knows what our house looks like from the inside. alam na nya kung ano pang pwede kuhanin. alam nya yung mga rooms, windows and even how easy it is to break-in. he knows na 2 lang kaming tao dito, and that we both work during office hours. your house is supposed to be the safest place for you, pero ngayon hindi na. every hour nagigising ako kagabi, tapos napapatingin ako sa mga windows namin, thinking na baka may nagbubukas na naman.
