got balls?
i joined an 8-Ball Pool Tournament here in the office. hehehe! katuwaan lang naman, pero we followed the rules on this site: http://www.poolplayers.com/8-9-ball-Rules.pdf
we were given levels to make up the handicapping. pag beginner, lower level. pag marunong na, higher level. i'm at level 3, for beginners who were able to play at least a few games na in the past.
my first game was kanina, tuesday at 2pm. i was against a 6-footer, probably 200-250 lbs, athletic guy. he's on level 4. since may handicapping, that means i need to win only 2 games to win, but he needs to win 3 to win. the higher the level, the more sets you need to win. the lower the level, the less. which is just about right, kasi mas marurunong naman sila eh.
first off, we need to determine kung sino ang unang titira. so we did lagging. tinira namin yung respective balls namin papunta sa kabilang dulo ng table. kailangang bumanda kasi kung kaninong bola ang mas malapit sa amin (since babalik sya pagkabanda), sya ang unang titira. i hit the ball too hard, kaya afer bumanda sa kabilang side, bumanda pa rin sa side namin. but the guy hit it too soft, at tumigil agad. i got the first turn.
i didn't get any ball into the pocket nung pag-break ko. the balls actually barely moved. pero hindi rin naka-shoot yung kalaban ko, so turn ko ulet. nakashoot agad ako! then sunud-sunod na! the game progressed, and we ended up with one ball each, and the 8th ball. he missed a shot, so i had my chance. na-shoot ko yung ball ko, then pocketed the 8! i won the first set! hehehe!
second set, i get to break again, kasi ako ang nanalo nung last set. wala na namang pumasok. grabe sunud-sunod yung tira ng kalaban ko. when he missed a shot, nagtuluy-tuloy naman sa akin! the game progressed, and again, we ended up with one ball each and the 8. he got his last ball into the pocket, pero missed the 8. so it's my turn. i missed it! so sya ulet... he got the 8 into the pocket, but slowly, the cue ball rolled to the other end of the table, at na-shoot! i won!!! hahaha!
he was in disbelief, tapos si kuya fred naman (who was there watching us), tawa nang tawa! hehehe! di talaga ako makapaniwala, kasi di naman ako marunong talaga. you could ask my HS and college friends, hindi talaga ako naglalaro. patingin-tingin lang ako lagi. i guess it's my lucky day!
may laban ulet ako sa friday, against a level-5 woman. i only need to win 2 games, she need to win 4. sarah pa ang name nya. hehehe! it's a sign!
anyways, kasali rin si kuya fred at ate may. ate may won against another big guy, si kuya fred naman natalo. grabe, umaariba ang mga pinoy! sabi nung teamlead ko, baka kaya kami magaling kasi kababayan namin yung peborit nya, si Bata Reyes.
