reinforcement (a sarah post. again.)
since i'm high on sarah, i'll just keep writing about her. to non-fans, this is your cue to stop reading. =P
i received an email from a very dear friend who happens to be a sarah fan too. a fan way back during those times that sarah's just starting her career. itago na lang natin sya sa pangalang Racquel Torres. ;-P Or Ple, para mas mysterious. mwehehe! =P
we've been exchanging emails for almost 2 weeks now, and it's fun to know i'm not alone in this world. that might be overly dramatic, coz i know sarah can stage sold-out concerts. maybe what i actually meant was, somebody who follows through her career beyond the weekly ASAP song numbers, or chanced-upon tv guestings. Ple knows a thing or two about sarah's past achievements, past guestings, past interviews. good stuff that i will have to research before it becomes readily available. Ple "cares" about who sarah (aka dorina) ends up with in BWN. oh yes, we've had "talks" as to who looks better with sarah on screen.
hubby je calls Ple my "pusher". i'm the hopeless addict, she's my pusher, because she feeds me info that i wouldn't have known on my own. and the more info i get from her, the more endearing sarah becomes to me.
Ple and i are in agreement that sarah's passionate singing voice is remarkable for a performer her age. we both believe she doesn't have to show skin to attract throngs of fans. nor copy the acting or singing style of a senior or major star. that her innocent looks will eventually wear off, but we believe she will easily find a way to reinvent herself. and best of all, we both like her tandem with carlo aquino. hahaha!
on my own (Ple might agree, but i checked our emails, no mention of these yet, hehe!), i believe that her simplicity and honesty will make her more non-showbiz-like, and will earn her more credibility. i believe she will outgrow her pa-cute style and come out as a seductive woman, without looking slutty. she is actually doing it, i think, with her latest album (Becoming). i saw the inlay photos and i could bet my toe that those pics could earn her at least a hundred more male fans. album reviews mention that her music has grown up with her as well.
despite the "i'm-more-mature-now-that-i'm-18" makeover, the young kid inside her will easily give her away. once she smiles that eye-hiding bungisngis, once she opens her mouth to pull a joke, once she comments at something that pleases her, you will realize that the young lady is still a kid at heart.
i smile at the thought that while writing this, i know at least one person will agree with me. that, or at least one person will not think i'm losing my mind. =P

ok, ok... since you won't stop this sarah threads (hehehe) i'll admit to being fan since she went to the finals on --- what was that singing show again?
favorite song? her version of 'i would do anything for love'. that is one heavy song it almost brought me to tears.
i loved it when they chose BWN for a series because I'm a Sharonian who LOVED the movie. and i think it was also the movie where sharon sang "kahit ilang awit ay aking aawitin, hanggang ang himig ko'y maging himig mo na rin... kahit ilang dagat ang dapat tawirin..."
the only unfortunate thing about sarah? (not really unfortunate) is that i can't see any sex appeal like rachel ann go or angelica cruz. we'll see... she's young nga naman.

i will have to agree with you that she still doesn't exude that certain sex appeal. maybe boss vic doesn't want to lay all his cards yet. the pa-cute is still working the charm, so milk it while it's there, then move on to the next level. ;-)

actuali, sarah has a tendency to follow the original singer's voice when she's doing covers. (ex:to love you more, broken vow and other songs i forgot 'cause i'm not a die-hard fan)

another problem though... which i don't think is sarah's fault is that when you think of her, you think of covers. unlike christian bautista , lovi and even nina who broke out of the 'revival' zone.
sarah has a couple of origs but not much get good airplay. i think this is simillar to musical type-casting.

jolina magdangal? naman! si kuya rudi talaga!!! *LOL* anyways, jolina tried too hard to remain youthful kasi eh. and let's face it, the forte she used didn't give much room for reinventing herself.
i still believe sarah will one day cross over. *cocks gun with a fresh round of bullets, mwehehe!* kaya lang conservative din kasi ng pamilya nya eh. oh well, hintayin ko na lang kung darating man yun, pero sa ngayon, it will be almost sinful for somebody to fantasize about her. parang pedo eh. di ba?! hahaha!
and yeah, i wonder if she do that on purpose (imitating the voice of the orig artist). they are too careful releasing her orig songs. i hope her new album gets a fair share of airplay na dyan. =)
